WHO representative joins European campaign 'Immunization Week' in Shamakhi

Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, continues his Azerbaijan visit.

On the second day of the trip, Kluge visited the Shamakhi district, which is the territory of the "WHO demonstration project on primary health care in Azerbaijan." The project is carried out with the financial support of USAID and UkAid over the past two years, together with the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance, and the Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB).

The WHO Regional Director for Europe took part in the events held within the framework of the European "Immunization Week" in Shamakhi. The guests visited the event held at the Shamakhi Olympic Center and then visited the primary health care center in the village of Goylar, a mobile clinic, and an immunization stand, and met with medical workers and students.

At the event, Kluge emphasized that strengthening primary health care is the basis of universal health care: "The projects under implementation today in Shamakhi with the joint participation of local, national and international partners make healthcare more accessible."
