Baku. 8 October. REPORT.AZ/ "The presidential and parliamentary elections held in Turkey on June 24 last year were organized in accordance with free, democratic and international standards."
Western Bureau of Report News Agency informs that Member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), MP Ganira Pashayeva was speaking during the debates on "Progress Report" and "Elections in Turkey" on the first day of the organization’s autumn session.
Speaking on behalf of the PACE Free Democrats Group, the Azerbaijani MP said that Turkey has long-standing cooperation with international missions on election observation. "In this regard, besides PACE and OSCE observers, a large number of observers from various international organizations and parliaments were invited to observe the elections. In its turn, Turkey also expanded their possibilities to observe elections around the country. I also observe a total positive assessment for Turkey election in the report. Moreover, I would like to draw your attention to a number of issues that are necessary to be clarified regarding this report. The report notes that the relocation and unification of election was aimed at reducing voter’s participation in specific areas. However, the authors of the report did not take into consideration that relocation and unification in the limited number of polling stations in certain areas was aimed at preventing efforts of terrorist organizations, such as the PKK / KCK, which impede the voters to use the right of free choice. Destruction of one ballot box after the elections in Ağrı / Dogubeyazıt is a concrete example of PKK / KCK terrorist organizations' attempts."
