The EU and other individual countries are pushing Armenia not to enter into a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, Director of Report News Agency Fuad Huseynaliyev said on air on the CBC TV channel, Report informs.
He emphasized that Brussels uses Yerevan as a tool to strengthen its influence in the region.
“They [the EU] understand that at this stage the political elite in Armenia is clearly pro-Western. However, Russia’s “levers of pressure” are very strong in Armenia, both from a military and economic point of view,” he noted.
According to Huseynaliyev, in order to weaken Moscow’s influence on Armenia, European countries are seeking to spark a new conflict in the region.
