Edel Tadal: Weakness in French military power opens up new opportunities for Guiana

France's military power continues to rapidly weaken, which in turn presents an excellent opportunity for Guiana to gain independence, said Edel Tadal, a member of the Movement for Social Liberation and Decolonization of French Guiana, at an international conference on “Decolonization Dialogues: Legacy, Challenges, and Progress," Report informs.

According to him, France deprived Guyana of its independence and the right of its people to live freely: "France continues the policy of cultural and religious colonization in Guiana. We must unite to restore our historical and cultural values. Our organization has been fighting against colonialism for 30 years. The situation is complicated by the fact that young people from Guiana are participating in military operations in the ranks of the French army. However, given that its military power is currently weakened, we have an excellent opportunity to achieve our goal."
