Today, as before, Ukraine once again has to defend its independence in difficult trials, Ukrainian Ambassador to Baku Yuriy Husyev wrote in his column dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
"Ukraine actively defends the values of international law, the UN Charter, as well as the fundamental principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty in the international arena. International partners support Ukraine and form new formats of interaction. Recently, more than 30 countries united in the Coalition of the Willing and confirmed their desire to achieve a just and lasting peace, increasing pressure on the aggressor," the ambassador noted.
The diplomat also touched on relations between Kyiv and Baku in his column, including humanitarian aid from Azerbaijan.
"Today I would like to express special gratitude to the leadership and people of Azerbaijan. By a separate decision of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in August, Ukraine received a new batch of electrical equipment worth $2 million to restore the power grid damaged by Russian strikes. Earlier, in February, $1 million was allocated for similar assistance. Since the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022, Azerbaijan has been sending humanitarian aid - medicines, food, generators and much more. Thanks to Azerbaijani assistance, important social projects are being implemented in the city of Irpin, which suffered greatly and was liberated from Russian occupation at the end of March 2022. In addition, Azerbaijan regularly organizes rehabilitation and recreation for Ukrainian children. We are very grateful for the fraternal assistance of Azerbaijan and will always remember this," the ambassador emphasized.
Husyev noted that Ukraine and Azerbaijan are actively cooperating in the energy sector, where "there are already significant results and an agreement to continue working together."
