As Report informs with reference to the IMF, in 2026 this indicator will decrease to 4.1% of GDP. The forecast for 2025 remained unchanged, while expectations for 2026 were revised downward by 0.8 percentage points.

By the end of 2027, the current account surplus will amount to 1.3% of GDP. In the future, the fund predicts a transition to a current account deficit: in 2028 it will be 1.7%, and in 2029 it will increase to 2.5% of GDP.

In 2024, Azerbaijan's current account surplus amounted to $4.7 billion, which is equivalent to 6.3% of GDP.
