SOCAR: Smoke expected in oil refinery flare towers

SOCAR continues modernization and reconstruction work at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, the company told Report.

In order to prevent possible process interruptions that may occur when crude oil and oil products are received at the refinery, it is expected that certain mixtures of hydrocarbons will be added to the plant's flare systems, which will cause smoke on the flare towers. The smoking may continue until the plants are fully operational and the refining process returns to normal.

As part of the operational sustainability and improvement program implemented at the refinery, scheduled repairs began at the refinery on April 4, 2022, and would last 50 days.

Currently, the final stage of the overhaul is being carried out and, in accordance with the plan, the process of commissioning the main technological facilities of the plant is underway.
