Over 170 attempts of illegal petroleum products export to Russia, Uzbekistan prevented in Kazakhstan in Q1

In the first quarter of 2024, Kazakhstan prevented 171 attempts to illegally export petroleum products from the country to Uzbekistan and Russia, according to the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan.

Report informs that the committee said that during the reporting period, 103 attempts to illegally export 13,650 liters of fuel and lubricants were prevented at the Kazakh-Russian border. Another 68 attempts (for 11,135 thousand liters) were prevented on the Kazakh-Uzbek border.

"Fines amounting to 3.7 million tenge (about $8,300) were collected," the committee said.

At this time, there is a ban on the export of certain types of petroleum products outside the territory of Kazakhstan. The ban was introduced in order to avoid a shortage of fuels and lubricants in the country’s domestic market.

In 2023, the State Revenue Committee prevented 618 attempts to illegally export about 140,000 liters of petroleum products to Russia and Uzbekistan.
