AzerEnergy commissions 12 energy facilities in Karabakh, East Zangazur this year

AzerEnergy OJSC has built and put into operation 12 substations and hydropower plants in the liberated territories in 2023, Report informs, citing the press service of the OJSC.

Also, the 330-kilovolt Jabrayil junction substation, built within the framework of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Europe international energy corridor project, was put into use.

In accordance with the green energy strategy, Chirag-1 power plant with a capacity of 8.33 megawatts, Chirag-2 power plant with a capacity of 3.6 megawatts, Qamishli power plant with a capacity of 6.33 megawatts, Soyugbulag power plant with a capacity of 5.3 megawatts, and Meydan power plant with a capacity of 3.4 megawatts were opened after reconstruction in the Kalbajar district.

In parallel, AzerEnergy inaugurated the newly built 110-kilovolt Gorchu substation in Lachin and the Lachin city junction substation. In addition, the 8.25-megawatt Mishni and 6-megawatt Alkhasli small hydropower plants were reconstructed and put into operation in the Lachin district. Along with this, the newly built 10.5 MW Jahangirbayli Hydroelectric Power Station of AzerEnergy was inaugurated. In December, the 110-kilovolt Aghdam junction substation was inaugurated.

"Undoubtedly, one of the most memorable events of this year was the connection of Khankandi and other areas to the energy system of Azerbaijan just 4 days after the September 19-20 anti-terrorist measures," the statement reads.

In 2023, the construction of 9 power plants of AzerEnergy started in the liberated territories. Currently, including those 9 plants, the construction of hydroelectric power plants that will produce ecologically clean green energy in 12 places in Karabakh and East Zangazur is underway, and the work on several of them has been completed. AzerEnergy said the commissioning of those stations is planned for 2024.
