Azerbaijan's natural gas output up 1 % in 2Q2026

Azerbaijan's State Oil Company (SOCAR) produced 1.7 million tons of oil and 1.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas from fields it operates independently, or as the principal shareholder, during the second quarter of 2026, Report informs.

According to SOCAR, the country's total natural gas production increased by 1% compared with the same period of 2025, reaching 12.8 billion cubic meters.

SOCAR said its drilling activity rose by 32.3% year-on-year in the second quarter, totaling 24,000 meters.

Overall, Azerbaijan produced more than 6.6 million tons of crude oil during the reporting period.

SOCAR exported more than 3.3 million tons of oil to foreign markets. The figure includes oil produced by the company as well as Azerbaijan's and SOCAR's profit shares from production by international consortia operating in the country.

Natural gas exports totaled 6.3 billion cubic meters, while domestic consumption stood at approximately 2.5 billion cubic meters. Gas exports increased by 0.5% year-on-year, while domestic consumption rose by 4.9%.

During the second quarter, SOCAR processed more than 1.4 million tons of oil and 679 million cubic meters of natural gas. The company's facilities in Azerbaijan also exported 556,400 tons of oil, petrochemical, and gas-chemical products to international markets.
