Mayor of US city awards Azerbaijanis

The Mayor of Aventura, Enid Weisman, awarded the organizers of the Florida Keys International Music Competition, dedicated to the memory of prominent Azerbaijani composer Jovdat Hajiyev, with certificates of honor.

Report says, citing State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the mayor thanked Parvin Muradova, Key Leng, Vivian Lee, and Tohfa Eminova for their contribution to the activity of the Aventura Center for Arts and Culture.

Notably, Aventura city has hosted the Florida Keys International Music Competition for several years. Although the selection stage of the competition took place this year, the organizers of the event canceled the Gala concert and the award ceremony scheduled for April 13 in connection with the global pandemic COVID-19.

This project took place with the partnership and support of the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora, as well as with the organizational support of the composer's daughter, Chair of Education and Culture Committee at Azerbaijani-American Cultural Association of Florida Parvin Muradova, the President of this Association, Tohfa Eminova, etc.

The competition aims to identify talented pianists all over the world and draw public attention to the rich musical culture of Azerbaijan.
