Earthquake destroys cathedral tower in Panama

A tower of the San Juan Bautista Cathedral collapsed completely in the city of Penonomé, in Panama"s Coclé Province, following a powerful earthquake.

According to Report, citing Telemetro, debris from the tower fell onto a car parked nearby.

According to the regional office of Panama"s National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), around 12 buildings collapsed in Penonomé, while the local government building sustained partial damage.

In addition, six other buildings in the city of Aguadulce were seriously damaged.

Rescuers pulled one injured person from the rubble and took them to hospital. No fatalities have been reported so far.
