Large-scale clashes between students and police in central Brussels – captured by Report

Thousands of people took to the streets of Brussels on October 9 to protest against the rising cost of living and government plans to cut budget spending. Police estimated that the trade union demonstration drew around 30,000 participants.

Clashes broke out near the Central Station: students threw stones and firecrackers at police officers, who responded with tear gas and water cannons. However, according to the police, the rioters were not connected to the main march, which proceeded peacefully.
