Ukraine’s capital and most regions grapple with severe energy shortages

The capital city of Ukraine, Kyiv, along with most of the country’s oblasts, are currently grappling with severe energy shortages, Report informs.

Kyiv has been plunged into darkness for two consecutive days. The transmission of electricity is halted during the evening hours across the entire Kyiv Oblast, which includes the central districts of the capital. The blackout in Kyiv started on the evening of June 3 and the power supply has yet to be restored. This situation is mirrored across most of the country’s provinces.

The cause of these widespread energy shortages is the destruction of Ukraine’s main power stations, which have been targeted by Russian missile strikes in recent days. Ukrenergo, the national energy company, has warned the population that the lack of power is expected to be a prolonged issue. The energy crisis poses a significant challenge as the country navigates through this difficult period.
