Khamenei supports memorandum between Iran and US

The Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, addressed the public regarding the memorandum signed with the United States.

"Personally, I had a different opinion in principle; however, considering the guarantees that the respected president (Masoud Pezeshkian - ed.) as head of the Supreme National Security Council gave me on his own behalf and on behalf of other members of the council regarding the protection of the rights of the Iranian people and the resistance front, as well as his readiness to take responsibility for it, I gave my consent," he said on X, as quoted by Report.

Khamenei also noted that the agreement between the presidents of Iran and the United States has already been signed:

"Responsible officials made great efforts to reach this stage, and of course it was US President Donald Trump who used various levers of pressure to achieve this."

The statement also says that Pezeshkian will not make concessions if the American side tries to put forward excessive demands: "In this context, we will expect the fulfillment of the above conditions."
