The monkeypox virus has reached all 50 US states, updated data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed on Monday, after Wyoming became the last state to confirm the existence of the disease.
Report informs, citing foreign media, that the Wyoming Department of Health WDH on Monday announced the first monkeypox case in a local resident in Laramie County.
CDC data as of Monday afternoon at 1400 showed that the US has 15,433 total confirmed monkeypox/orthopoxvirus cases, with New York state seeing the highest caseload of 2,910.
The US government in early August declared monkeypox a public health emergency more than a week after the World Health Organization qualified the outbreak as a global emergency.
