A third of banks and other financial institutions in the Netherlands are unable to trace and freeze Russian assets on the sanctions list, due to misspellings in names, Report informs via local TV channel NOS.
The Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank) checked 31 financial institutions, including banks, and concluded that one-third of them failed to find all Russian bank accounts and other assets that were on EU sanctions lists.
This is often due to errors in the spelling of surnames.
