Ali Asadov: Azerbaijani Army among 40 most powerful and capable armies in world

According to international rankings, the Azerbaijani Army is among the 40 most powerful and capable armies globally, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov said in an article published in the official press, Report informs.

He said that one of the directions of the economic potential, which is constantly enriched by the wise and far-sighted policy of President Ilham Aliyev, is to raise the country's defense capabilities: "The initiative to establish a modern defense and military-industrial complex in Azerbaijan also belongs to Mr. Ilham Aliyev."

The prime minister noted that the achievements in this area played an important role in equipping the Azerbaijani Army with the highest level of ammunition during the 44-day Patriotic War:

"Azerbaijan has achieved sustainable development of the military-industrial complex, which meets its basic needs and exports its products to more than 30 countries.

"While in 2003-2004 only 0.9 billion manats were allocated from the state budget for defense expenditures, in 2020 this figure reached 3.9 billion manats. Next year's state budget will set more than 4.5 billion manats for defense and national security."
