Fuat Oktay: France, US are worried about liberation of Karabakh

Although the settlement of the Karabakh problem makes Türkiye and Azerbaijan happy, on the other hand, it worries France, some EU countries, and the United States, Fuat Oktay, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, told Report.

He said that today Türkiye also suffers from double standards: " Türkiye’s power in the world is increasing every day, and its policy is gaining success. We see that the successful policy of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is extremely important. Of course, many are worried by this. Although the settlement of the Karabakh problem makes Türkiye and Azerbaijan happy, on the other hand, it worries France, some EU countries, and the United States. However, there is nothing to worry about in this matter. Because Armenia should focus its energy on its economic development."

According to Oktay, no one gains from the conflict. He said the best war is worse than the worst peace agreement:

"Therefore, instead of being jealous of our success in the region, it is important to encourage it. As Türkiye, looking at this aspect, we see the problems before us in many areas. The European Union, the problem we face regarding human rights. For example, it is a double standard that those who turn a blind eye to the killing of 34,000 in Gaza and those who provide them with weapons talk about human rights. Of course, there are always problems. There may be problems with each country, but the main thing is that it is possible to work together and solve them. Therefore, as Türkiye, we focus on issues that can be resolved."
