Minister: Path to peace open if Armenia shows political will

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that the path to bilateral peace is open, Armenia only needs to show political will, Report informs.

The minister was speaking at a press conference dedicated to the results of the year.

He touched upon the obstacles on the path to a peace treaty: “We understand that this issue has its own history. If we approach it in terms of agreeing on each point, the process can take a very long time. Baku’s position is to develop a document that both sides agree on and that does not cause serious disagreement. This could be a very serious step towards peace.”

According to Bayramov, Azerbaijan believed that after 2020 the process would develop quickly. “We hoped that Armenia would immediately withdraw its illegal armed groups from Azerbaijani lands. However, this did not happen,” he added.
