FM: Azerbaijan to keep nuclear factor at forefront during COP29 presidency

Along with the promotion of the involvement of resources for the affordable use of nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes in the field of combating climate change, we will keep the nuclear safety factor at the forefront during our COP29 presidency, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said in his speech at the Nuclear Energy Summit, Report informs.

The minister said he believes that the possible contribution of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the efforts in these directions will play an important role.

Giving detailed information about Azerbaijan's experience of using nuclear technologies at the national level, Bayramov pointed out that, together with IAEA, efforts are being made to study the possibility of applying nuclear technology to combating the mine threat, which is one of the most important challenges for Azerbaijan. He emphasized that the priority in this field is to pay special attention to nuclear safety during the investigation of the possibilities of using nuclear energy.
