Ilham Aliyev: We are planning our gas development projects based on the existing contracts

Azerbaijan plans to develop its gas projects on the basis of existing contracts, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with participants of the international conference 'South Caucasus: Development and Cooperation,' Report informs.

The head of state was commenting on the issue of Europe’s dependence on Russian gas supplies and whether Azerbaijan is going to replace Russian supplies.

“We implement all our commitments, all the contracts which have been signed with our consumers are being implemented 100 percent. Today Azerbaijani gas is being exported to Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece and Italy. Italy along with Turkey is the biggest recipient of our gas. Last year it was more than 9 billion cubic meters. We of course are planning our gas development projects based on the existing contracts,” the president said.
