Azerbaijani population spend nearly $15 billion on food in January-November

The retail trade network sold 45.111 billion manats (over $26.54 billion) worth of goods to consumers from January through November of this year, including 25.354 billion manats (about $14.91 billion) worth of food, beverage, and tobacco wares, 19.756 billion manats ($11.62 billion) worth of non-foods, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
The retail trade in real terms rose by 3% compared to January-November of 2021, including 2.2% on food, beverage, and tobacco wares and 3.8% on non-foods.
During the reporting period, 51.7% of funds spent by buyers on final consumption goods were for food, 4.5% for drinks and tobacco products, 14.7% for textiles, clothing, and footwear, 5.6% for motor gasoline and diesel fuel, 5% for electrical goods and furniture, 2.1% for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, 1% for the purchase of computers, telecommunications equipment, and printed products, and 15.4% for other non-food products.
In the first quarter of 2022, the cost of goods sold by economic entities in the non-state sector increased in real terms by 2.9% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 99.7% of the total retail trade turnover. Compared to January-November 2021, the retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 3.1% for enterprises, by 4% for markets and fairs, and by 2.4% for individual entrepreneurs.
On average, an Azerbaijani resident spent 407.4 manats ($239.65) per month on goods, including 229 manats ($134.71) on food, drinks, and tobacco products and 178.4 manats ($104.94) on non-food products.
