Azerbaijan eyes buying batteries for electricity storage

The purchase of batteries for the storage of electricity obtained from renewable energy sources is a topic of discussion in Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov said, Report informs.

According to him, there are difficulties related to their purchase since these batteries are very expensive:

"These types of batteries enable efficient use of electricity but their price is very high. In the West, the money spent on these batteries ends up on the tariffs, but we do not take this step because we have a welfare state. Therefore, the discussions are at the initial stage. The main topic of discussion is the purchase of a battery of which volume and technology. Discussions are underway with Saudi Arabia's ACWA POWER."
