Guterres urges countries to stop sticking to their original positions and compromise

The delegations arriving at COP29 still maintain their initial positions on climate financing and adaptation, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said during a press conference at COP29, Report informs.

He noted that this is evidenced by the latest statements from delegation representatives.

"However, now is the time to find compromise. I call on all parties to do exactly that," said the secretary-general.

Guterres emphasized that there is still an opportunity to reach agreements and come to a common understanding, particularly regarding the New Collective Quantified Goal.

"The new goal is important because finance is at the center of this conference's agenda. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the interests of all countries in matters directly related to further fighting climate change," he noted.
