Azerbaijan starts supplying rice from two more countries

In January-August of this year, Azerbaijan imported 40,767 tons of rice (+20%) worth $34.9 million (+40.4%), Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

In the reporting period, 29,677 tons (+27.3%) worth $28 million (+46.9%) were imported from India, 4,836 tons (+46.6%) worth $2.9 million (+98.7%) from Kazakhstan, 4,151 tons (-21.1%) worth $2.4 million (-12.6%) from Russia, 1,022 tons (+27.1%) worth $770,000 (+22.1%) from Thailand, and 863.5 tons (-25.1 %) worth $602,000 (-24 .4 %) from Pakistan.

This year, Azerbaijan supplied 30 kg of rice worth $50 from Uzbekistan and 2 tons worth $1,600 from Romania for the first time in the last 11 years (note: publicly available official statistics on foreign trade are up to 2011).

Of the 46,765 tons of rice Azerbaijan imported from 25 countries last year, 64.6% came from India, 15% from Kazakhstan, 13.4% from Russia, 4.8% from Pakistan, and 1.7% from Thailand.
