Baku. 25 February. REPORT.AZ/ In January 2019, 191,600 foreigners traveled to Azerbaijan from 143 countries, up 2.9% from the previous year, Report informs citing the State Statistical Committee (SSC).
According to the SSC, 29.4% of visitors traveled from Russia, 29.1% from Georgia, 11.2% from Turkey, 5.4% from Iran, 4.5% from UAE, 1.7% from Ukraine, 1.3% from Iraq, 17.3% from other countries.
71.1% of travelers were men, 28.9% were women.
Most of the growth was recoded in travelers from Egypt (4.5-fold), Pakistan (2.0-fold), Turkmenistan (1.7-fold), India (1.4-fold), China (26.5%), Georgia (21.9%), South Korea (15.2%). Along with this, the number of travelers from Gulf countries dropped by 13.3% to 28,500 people.
The number of travelers from EU countries rose by 0.9% to 5,800 people, while the number of visitors from the CIS countries dropped by 0.2% to 67,200.
The number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling to foreign countries grew by 19.3% to 357,100 people. 35% of Azerbaijanis traveled to Iran, 28% to Georgia, 20.9% to Russia, 10.2% to Turkey, 1.2% to Ukraine, 1.1% to UAE, 3.6% to other countries. 62.1% of travelers were men, 31.9% were women.
The number of Azerbaijanis visiting Iran has risen by 75.2%, Russia by 6.5%, Georgia by 2.5%, Turkey declined by 2.6%.
