Report/ Elchin Murad

"Though cases of violence were also observed before, they were not socialized. Today, when the technology is developing, such cases are socialized through social networks and internet resources, so violence seems to be on rise in Azerbaijan. However it does not reflect the reality," Hijran Huseynova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, told in her private statement to Report.

She said that monitoring groups are intensifying their activity to carry out educational measures to prevent violence in Azerbaijan in line with the instruction by President Ilham Aliyev. According to the Chairperson of the Committee, last year the number of cases of violence dropped in Azerbaijan compared to the previous years . "These monitoring groups primarily take preventive measures. Monitoring groups register problematic families in the regions. So, we continue educational works in the regions. We conduct these measures at secondary schools, military units and higher education institutions. We work jointly with the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, and the Ministry of Education because violence is one of the main issues that concerns us.
