Kyiv approves evacuation plan in case of an emergency

Kyiv has approved a plan for the evacuation of the population in the event of Russia's invasion of the territory of Ukraine, Report informs, citing UNIAN that the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, said.

"Evacuation commissions have been set up in Kyiv - at the level of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) and in each district. An evacuation plan has been approved. It determines the location of prefabricated evacuation points, the amount of transport needed, and safe areas to accommodate the population," the Kyiv City State Administration said in a statement.

It is noted that city services are doing everything possible for the safety of citizens in an emergency.

"Today, the forces and means of civil protection of Kyiv (public utilities, emergency services, and others) are 13,500 personnel and more than 780 pieces of equipment. The forces of the territorial brigade are also being deployed to defend Kyiv," Klitschko said.

According to him, over the past few years, the number of places intended for bomb shelters has tripled in the city.

"If a few years ago, we had 1,500 corresponding shelters, today their number has been tripled. In total, the fund of protective structures of civil protection includes more than 500 storage facilities," he said.

Now we are also working with various institutions: medical institutions, schools and kindergartens, social protection institutions, and others. Instructions have been developed on how to act for each of them, taking into account the specifics of their work.
