CSTO Secretary General: Armenia has significantly reduced scope of its activities in organization

Armenia has significantly reduced the scope of its activities as a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said in an interview with NEWS.ru, according to Report.

"The concept of 'freezing' regarding Armenia's membership in the CSTO is not reflected in the organization's documents, so we will not use it in relation to the current situation. Armenia has indeed significantly reduced the scope of its activities as a member of the organization, but, nevertheless, the work continues, all questions included in the Secretariat's agenda are being discussed in a working manner. Clarity on this issue would be beneficial to all participants in our association, first of all, for proper planning," he said.

Tasmagambetov noted that analysts note a tendency to aggravate the situation in the South Caucasus: “It is obvious that such risks exist. Therefore, great responsibility lies with the political leadership of the countries of the region, first of all, before their people. The CSTO Secretariat, in turn, is always ready to solve problems to ensure security in the region in accordance with the goals of the organization, signed documents and announced initiatives, as has been repeatedly stated."
