Washington eyes allocating $37M to Kyiv for assistance in cyber sphere

The US administration intends to provide Kyiv with $37 million to strengthen the cybersecurity of Ukraine, reads a statement by the US State Department, Report informs referring to TASS.

As follows from the document, US and Ukrainian officials held a meeting in Tallinn on June 1 as part of a cyber dialogue. At this meeting, the US side reaffirmed an unwavering commitment to supporting the defense of Ukraine in the cyber sphere.

The United States is working with Congress to allocate an additional $37 million in cyber assistance to Ukraine, taking into account this total amount will reach $82 million from February 2022 and will exceed $120 million from 2016, the State Department said.

This support helped strengthen the potential of Ukraine to identify, contain and respond to cyber incidents and threats, and contributed to the protection of critical networks and digital infrastructure, according to the message.

The parties discussed the role of cybersecurity in the long-term development of Ukraine in the digital sphere. They also exchanged views on future cooperation between the US and Ukraine on issues in this area.
