Deputies at a joint meeting of the chambers of the Kazakhstani Parliament approved the proposal of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to send a peacekeeping contingent of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan to participate in UN missions.
Speaking in parliament, Kazakh Defense Minister Ruslan Zhaksylykov said that recent events in the region and the world testify to new risks and challenges to regional and national security, some of which may require a military response.
