Medical workers have confirmed five deaths after a blaze at a building in a commercial district of the Japanese city of Osaka on Friday,

Report informs, citing TASS, that all of them died of carbon dioxide poisoning. 22 others are in a state of cardiac and respiratory arrest - this is how Japan describes the condition of those whose death is yet to be confirmed by an authorized doctor.

The blaze, in the busy business area near Kitashinchi train station in the city in western Japan, had been put out after half an hour, Osaka fire department official told.

The police are considering a version of arson. Before the fire, an elderly man about 60 years old was seen at the site pouring some liquid from a bag, after which a fire broke out. At the moment, police officers are checking whether this man is among the victims.
