Finland to introduce three-week lockdown

Due to the worsening situation with coronavirus, the Finnish government will introduce restrictions in addition to the existing ones. The additional rules will be effective from 8 to 28 March, in particular, high school students will switch to distance learning, the Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said at a press conference.

Report informs with reference to RIA Novosti that a three-week lockdown will be introduced in Finland from 8 to 28 March. In addition to the measures already taken, distance education will be introduced at most schools. Also, group classes for students over 12 years of age will be suspended.

Sanna Marin noted that 'the government, together with the president, is ready to declare a state of emergency in the country.'

The Cabinet of Ministers hopes with these measures to reduce the number of infections to prevent overload of the healthcare system.
