COVID-19 death toll in Portugal exceeds 1,000

Number of people who died from coronavirus in Portugal has reached 1,007, Health Ministry reported.

25,531 people have been infected with the coronavirus in the country, of which 1,647 recovered.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 210 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases have reached 3,330,772 globally, resulting in 1,053,250 recoveries and 234,768 deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
