China recalculates death toll from coronavirus

China has added 1,290 more people to its list of COVID-19 victims, Report says, citing Euronews.

Earlier, 2,579 people died of coronavirus in Wuhan, but that number has risen to 3,869.

By the information, 325 more tested positive for COVID-19, bringing a total number of infections to 50,333.

The statement said that some factors led to discrepancies in the figures. For example, patients who died at home were not registered, as well as incomplete or incorrect reports of the insufficient number of health workers, and lack of inter-agency coordination led to discrepancies in the figures.

Earlier, the media reported that Wuhan indicated the death toll from the coronavirus less than half.

Notably, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 210 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 2 186 000 globally, resulting in more than 553 323 recoveries and over 146 969 deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
