Russian Defense Minister: 'NATO troops are approaching borders of Russia'

NATO troops are approaching the borders of Russia, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at the meeting of defense ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries, Report informs.

He noted that this is an additional threat to military security: "Now they say that if Russia is not stopped in Ukraine, it will attack the countries of the Alliance. However, they are the ones who approach us."

According to the minister, Russia adheres to the policy of non-interference in the affairs of other states: "At the same time, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO's expansion to the East continues. But in the 1990s, we were promised that this would not happen."
