An action in memory of African American George Floyd, organized by the local activists, has grown into mass unrest, accompanied by acts of vandalism and clashes with police in Portland, Oregon, Report informs, citing Fox News.

Around 200 action participants, all in black, gathered outside the city court building the day before. They started throwing stones and bottles at police officers and attempted to set the building on fire. They broke windows, damaged walls, and metal fences.

One of the police officers said they warned separate individuals that they would be detained if they continued their actions. Police officers apprehended the most aggressive demonstrators without specifying the exact number of those arrested.

Then some of the protesters headed to the city hall and continued to break windows, including in nearby offices and cafes. At 10:00 pm local time, police declared that the ongoings were civil unrest and applied additional measures to restore the order, including detentions 'for participation in criminal actions.'
