Today is the day of remembrance of Lieutenant-Colonel Garib Bakhshaliyev, who rose to the peak of martyrdom by showing heroism in the 44-day Patriotic War. A memorial plaque was unveiled at his residence in Khatai district on the occasion of the martyr's memorial day, Report says.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Khatai and Narimanov district executive authorities, MP Mahir Abbaszada, family members of the martyr, comrades, and members of the public.

At the event, the souls of the martyrs, who died for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, were commemorated with a minute of silence and the national anthem was played. A literary-artistic composition performed by schoolchildren was demonstrated. Then the speakers spoke about the heroism of the martyr.

Ingilab Bakhshaliyev, the father of the martyr, said that his son was a man devoted to the Fatherland: "I have always observed his patriotism. He was a brave and fearless man. Qarib is not dead, he always lives in our hearts. All our martyrs went down in history and they wrote their names in red letters All our martyrs are like my own children."

The martyr's comrade-in-arms, Hero of the Great Patriotic War Nizami Movlanov spoke about his way of fighting and said that Garib was well-known among the personnel as a brave and fearless warrior.

“Garib always encouraged his soldiers to fight and took part in battles with them. He always wanted to return to his native Lachin District and liberate our lands from 30 years of occupation. He has succeeded in it.”

We should note that Garib Bakhshaliyev was born on May 22, 1977, in Baku. The martyr lieutenant-colonel taught at the Jamshid Nakhchivanski Military High School for many years. Garib Bakhshaliyev had a great contribution to the training of many of our servicemen. He was an officer before becoming a teacher. For two years, he served face to face with the enemy in Tartar.

The lieutenant colonel joined the Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020, two days later - on September 29. According to the relatives of the martyr, he hailed from Lachin, so he always waited for the day when our lands would be liberated from occupation. His love for the motherland has always moved him forward.

Lieutenant-Colonel Garib Bakhshaliyev became a martyr in the battles in the direction of Zangilan on November 3.

By the order of President Ilham Aliyev, Garib Bakhshaliyev was posthumously awarded the medals "For the Motherland", "For Courage", "For the Liberation of Fuzuli" and "For the Liberation of Gubadli".
