Aghdaban residents: Armenians tied hands of mentally retarded person and set him on fire

The State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons has prepared videos and infographics on the massacre committed by Armenians in the village of Aghdaban, Kalbajar district 30 years ago.

In the video, the residents of Agdaban reported on the tragedy they witnessed and spoke about the brutal killing of women, the elderly, and children by Armenians.

The infographic provides information about the territory of the Agdaban village, its population, and their main engagements, statistics on crimes committed as a result of the occupation of the village, and information on the damage to material and cultural heritage.

"In our village, there was a deaf-and-dumb man named Musa who was mentally retarded. He didn't even know what meant to run away. He wondered what an Armenian could do to me because I had not done anything to him. Armenians tied his hands and burned him on a haystack. His mother, who tried to help him, was also shot in the mouth," one of the witnesses said.

On the night of April 8, 1992, Armenians completely burnt and razed to the ground the Aghdaban village, which consisted of 130 houses. 779 civilians of the village were subjected to inhuman tortures, 67 people were killed, 8 people aged 90 to 100, 2 minors, and 7 women were burnt alive.

Giving the legal and political assessment to the tragedy for the first time, national leader Heydar Aliyev named the Aghdaban events the greatest crime against humanity and described it as a shame to all humanity.
