Minister: Kazakhstan attaches special attention to Middle Corridor development

Kazakhstan attaches special attention to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (TITR, or Middle Corridor), Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev said at the Kazakhstan-Italy business forum held in Astana, Report informs.
"As a landlocked country, Kazakhstan is constantly looking for alternative logistics routes. In this regard, special attention is paid to the development of the Middle Corridor, which is gaining an increasingly important and special role as an alternative to the Northern Corridor against the backdrop of the restructuring of logistics chains," Shakkaliyev said.
According to him, in 2024, the volume of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor increased by 63% compared to 2023, reaching 4.1 million tons, while container transportation increased by 2.6 times to 50,500 TEU: "These are significant growth indicators."
Shakkaliyev also said Kazakhstan is interested in expanding economic cooperation with Italy: "Italy is a renowned world leader in areas such as mechanical engineering, industrial design, and energy technologies, and can participate in Kazakhstan's major projects."
