Kunio Mikuriya says Middle Corridor can ensure uninterrupted trade between Asia and Europe, East and West

There is a great need for uninterrupted trade between Asia and Europe, East and West, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya said at the multilateral meeting on the project of simplifying the transit customs procedure (Data pipeline) using the 'one window' principle along the Trans-Caspian International Transport East-West Corridor in Baku.

According to Mikuriya, the tool that will meet this need is the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route):

"Because the Middle Corridor connects Asia with Europe. Also, the goal is to make the trade work smoothly and efficiently. That is why this corridor is crucial from the point of view of international trade.

"This corridor is also important for the Caucasus and Central Asia countries. The corridor is of great importance in terms of investment in these regions for their economic development and prosperity. International business circles, including international investment circles, seek such areas."

WCO Secretary General said that the countries where the corridor passes, including Azerbaijan, should simplify customs procedures.
