Dubai - based Emirates airline has restricted flights from Azerbaijan to Saudi Arabia due to the spread of coronavirus infection.

Report informs citing the Gulf Business that in line with a directive issued by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all customers holding tourist visas and coming from China and SAR (Hong Kong and Macau), Iran, Italy, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Philippines, Singapore, India, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Somalia, and Vietnam will not be allowed to travel to Saudi Arabia due to restrictions imposed over coronavirus fears."

Moreover, the airline said that the limitations also apply to those who want to make an Umrah (small pilgrimage – ed.) to Saudi Mecca.

Those impacted due to cancellation of flights should contact their travel agent or Emirates Office for refunds and rebooking options.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia suspended tourist visas for citizens of 22 countries, including Azerbaijan. Two Azerbaijani citizens, arriving from Iran, were confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus.
