The Caspian Week Forum 2023 held in Dubai has ended.

According to Report’s correspondent, global freight transportation, logistics and trade, digital technologies, and the development of logistics corridors were discussed on the first day of the event hosted by the Great Caspian Association and Integral Group of Companies and organized in cooperation with DP World.

Experts discussed the role of logistic corridors in the Caspian region concerning global food and energy security during the plenary session on “The role of Greater Caspian Region logistic corridors for Global Food and Energy Security”. Participants included Eugene Seah, Chief of Operations at the Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC, and Emil Majidov, an Azerbaijani expert.

Emil Majidov emphasized the significance of his country as a transportation and logistics hub in the region.

Matthew Bryza, former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, shared his views on compliance with international sanctions during the plenary session titled “International Sanctions Compliance - Day 1”, highlighting the importance of fulfilling obligations related to sanctions compliance.

The Caspian region is very important for global energy and food security, the President of the Caspian Association, Murat Seitnepesov, said in the plenary session titled “Global Trade: Contribution to the Sustainability of the World”.

Emphasizing collaboration with the Caspian region, Seitnepesov noted that logistics plays a key role in the development of the region: “This forum will undoubtedly become an excellent platform for discussing ideas and presenting projects important to the GCR, especially on the creation of integrated trade and logistics smart systems, inviting partners, and attracting investments for the implementation of development projects in the region.”

Subsequent sessions addressed topics such as “Strategic Vision for Trade and Logistics Development of the Greater Caspian Region”, “Greater Caspian Region – 3 Trillion Dollars Opportunity”, “Digitalization in Trade and Logistics - Smart Supply Chains, Ports & Terminals” and “Trade Finance: Blockchain & Digitalization Process” discussions took place on the logistic capabilities of the Caspian region, focusing on the participation of technologies.

The second day of the Caspian Week Forum 2023 began with a plenary session on “Women - leaders of the future” with the participation of representatives of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and India. The speakers shared their success stories and talked about the challenges they faced.

In the plenary session themed “Smart logistics embracing the future”, it was noted that Azerbaijan plays an important role in the North-South transport corridor. It was stated that the countries located in the Caspian region should learn the experiences of other large countries and establish cooperative relations for the application of smart logistics.

Later, plenary sessions were held on “Climate change and the greater Caspian region - turning challenges into opportunities”, “Future global leaders in a changing world”, “Innovative financing for trade and logistics” and other topics.

The trade and logistics potential of the Greater Caspian region was once again emphasized in the speeches, and proposals regarding its use and expansion were voiced. The high-level organization of the event was noted by the speakers.

Within the forum, there was also a presentation of the project on the digitalization of transport logistics corridors of the Caspian region and the creation of a unified coordination.

At the closing ceremony of the Caspian Week Forum 2023, the President of the Caspian Association, Murat Seitnepesov, spoke about the cooperative relations with DP World and noted that these relations are developing further.

He said that representatives from the USA, China, Korea, Singapore, Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and other countries participated in the forum:

“After a 3-year break caused by the pandemic, we gathered the countries of the Caspian region together again. There were very interesting discussions during the two-day event, and we will conduct research on them later.”

Speaking about the importance of the two-day training, Claude Begle, CEO of Swiss NeWater Holding and SymbioSwiss, noted that the event became an important platform for many companies to establish cooperation and communication: “The opinions and thoughts of those who spoke here suggest that the goals and agreements between the companies will be successfully fulfilled.”
