Caspian Sea level drops 24 cm over past four years

Over the past four years, the level of the Caspian Sea has decreased by 24 cm, Rafig Verdiyev, Head of the Department of Cadastral Accounting and Registry at the State Control Service for Water Use and Protection, said during a panel discussion at Baku Water Week.
According to Report, he explained that the main causes of the decline are reduced precipitation and rising temperatures.
Based on scientific forecasts, Verdiyev noted that further climate changes could exacerbate environmental problems along the Caspian coast, with potential economic consequences as well.
