Baku Transport Agency (BTA) continues disinfection measures in Azerbaijan to contribute to the fight against the spread of coronavirus.

Report informs that the works are carried out at night with the use of specific substances after daily cleaning.

2,100 buses have already been disinfected.

BakuBus LLC undertook such preventive measures yesterday. To protect people from contagion through contact and droplets, the Airport Express Line Buses were treated with medical substances.

Upon the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated March 4, 2019, the buses are to be cleaned at the production base after returning from operation. At the same time, each vehicle must be disinfected at least once in two months. In case of relevant recommendations from the health agency, additional disinfection works may be carried out in both buses and the Koroglu Transport Exchange Center.

BTA also disinfects the Koroglu Transport Exchange Center on Saturday nights. The main goal is to leave the passengers undisturbed. Platforms, waiting rooms, and parks are sanitized as well.

The outbreak in China’s Wuhan city - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019. The number of people killed by the disease has surpassed 7,170. Over 182,725 people have been confirmed as infected. Meanwhile, more than 79,880 people have reportedly recovered.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic on March 11.
