Most titled weightlifter of Azerbaijan failed doping test

Baku. 24 August. REPORT.AZ/ The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) announced the list of athletes who failed doping tests during Beijing Summer Olympics 2008. Report informs referring to the IWF's official website, two-time world and European champion, former head coach Nizami Pashayev is also among athletes who are found to have used such banned substances.

N. Pashayev used Stanozolol, Dehidroxlormetiltestosteron and Oxandrolone.

Notably, Nizami Pashayev took 5th place with the result of 396 kg at Beijing Summer Olympics 2008. He also failed to pass a doping test at the 2006 European championship.

Banned substance metandienone found in his blood and by decision of IWF N. Pashayev was stripped of gold medal and fined 2400 USD. He was also deprived of the right to participate in all national and international competitions for 2 years.
