Artificial intelligence (AI) has great useful potential for humanity, but at the same time, its development is fraught with serious and unforeseen risks, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in his address to participants of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Report informs referring to TASS.
Each new iteration of generative artificial intelligence raises the risk of serious unintended consequences. The technology has enormous potential for sustainable development, but the International Monetary Fund just warned that AI is likely to worsen inequality, he said.
The secretary-general noted that in the pursuit of profit, powerful technology companies recklessly disregard human rights, privacy and social consequences.
