How to minimize risks of sedentary work

"Sedentary position is the most non-functional of human posture in terms of physiological needs," cardiologist Vladimir Khoroshev told Sputnik radio.

"When a person is standing or lying down, his arteries remain straight. While sitting, the arteries constrict, and arterial blood flow begins to decrease sharply. This is a terrible thing. Slowing of blood flow can lead to increased atherosclerotic changes in these arteries. It can cause severe complications - damage to the arteries in the lower extremities. Unfortunately, its treatment is also costly,"said the cardiologist.

Exercise for half an hour to an hour a day can help reduce sedentary work's adverse effects: "Sedentary posture is the most inconvenient. If a person has the opportunity to avoid a sedentary lifestyle, it is necessary to do so. It is not in vain to install desktop computer desks in modern offices. A person does not sit in such a place; he stays on his feet. It is functionally affordable. It is essential to know that staying on your feet is not harmless, but if a person moves every 30 minutes, it can reduce the damage."
