UNAOC official: Importance of dialogue as an essential tool for conflict prevention cannot be overstated

“The importance of a dialogue as an essential tool for conflict prevention and the prevention of violent extremism cannot be overstated," High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), Miguel Moratinos said at the 5th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku.

He noted the importance of three keywords for cooperation: “Dialogue, Action. Alliance”.

"UNAOC has been committed to forging partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, including religious leaders, representatives of civil society organizations, youth, women, academia, media professionals and the business community," Moratinos noted.

UNAOC High Representative noted that the UN Secretary-General instructed him to develop an Action Plan for the Protection of Religious Places to ensure the safety of believers.

"Let me stress that peace takes constant effort, and we must all work together within our respective mandates, means and responsibilities to achieve it," Moratinos resumed.
